Ground breaking and construction of the plant occurred on October 25, 1994. The completion and start up of the plant occurred March 7, 1996. The cost of the production plant auxiliary generator, two wells, 1 million gallon ground storage tank, 200,000 gallons elevated storage tank and approximately 22 miles of distribution pipe totaled 6.4 million dollars.

Recipient of the Southeast Desalting Association 2000 Membrane Plant Award. In recognition of the outstanding plant operations and maintenance and an overall exemplary treatment plant.

Winner of the 2003 & 2008 North Carolina Rural Water Association Water Tasting Contest

Recipient of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 2010 Safe Drinking Water Excellence Award in the Small Water System Category.
