Important Customer Notification for Motor Vehicle Tax Payments

Dare County Tax will accept credit or debit card payments only via our automated payment systems or in person.

Our automated payment systems include this on-line payment site or our IVR telephone system which can be reached by calling toll-free 1-888-272-9829. The jurisdiction code for Dare County is 3955. A convenience fee of 2.75% of the payment amount applies to both systems where the minimum fee is $1.00.

NOTE: UNBLOCKING
Payments received MONDAY – THURSDAY will UNBLOCK blocked registrations with the NCDMV within 24 hours of the payment. Payments made FRIDAY, SATURDAY or SUNDAY will UNBLOCK blocked registrations with the NCDMV by 5:00pm on the following MONDAY. In the event of a ONE DAY HOLIDAY, allow one extra day.

Payments made during the THANKSGIVING and CHIRSTMAS HOLIDAY PERIOD, will unblock blocked registrations with the NCDVM within ONE WEEK.
