Dare County Water System Update
Water System Low Pressure Advisory - Water Distribution Systems on Hatteras Island (September 1, 2011)

North Hatteras Island: Rodanthe Waves and Salvo Villages:

The Dare County Water Department is rescinding the Water System Low Pressure Advisory for the water distribution system on North Hatteras Island. This includes the Villages of Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo.

Samples collected from multiple locations within the distribution system have been analyzed and found to free of coliform bacteria.

Based on these results, the continued presence of adequate chlorine residuals, and maintenance of constant pressure throughout the distribution system, the Water System Low Pressure Advisory is rescinded effective immediately. You are no longer required to boil your water prior to consuming.

The Mac Midgett Water Plant, in Rodanthe, is currently operating on generator power at this time. The request for water conservation in the Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo area remains in effect until the plant is operating on utility supplied power.

Your cooperation with our conservation requests is greatly appreciated.
