Children will be placed in classes based on their skill level.
Classes will involve flexibility, tumbling/floor exercises, balance
beam, vaulting, and bars depending on the division location. Recital
will be held at end of session.
Start Smart Baseball
Ages: 3-5 with parent

When: Spring/Summer Season
Start Smart Baseball is a developmentally appropriate introductory
baseball program for children 3-5 years old. The program prepares
children for organized tee ball, baseball and softball in a fun
non-threatening environment. Start Smart Baseball prepares children
and their parents for organized baseball and softball without the
threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate
equipment from Franklin Sports® and Hasbro® is used in teaching
throwing, catching, batting, running and agility.
Start Smart Basketball
Ages: 3-5 with parent
Cost: $40
Place: All 3 Divisions
When: Fall/Winter Season
Participants will learn a variety of basketball skills including
dribbling, passing, catching, and shooting. Parents will then work
with their child to develop these skills. All participants receive a
kit containing a manual, Start Smart Basketball T-Shirt, Teslon
Basketball, mini basketball, blue or orange jersey and 4 cones.
Start Smart Football
Ages: 5-7 with parent
Cost: $40
When: Fall Season
Participants will learn the basic motor skills necessary to play
organized flag football while they work one-to-one and spend quality
time with their parents. The program focuses on teaching children
and their parents skills in throwing, catching, kicking/punting, and
running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of
getting hurt. Participants will receive a kit containing a football,
4 cones, kicking tee, participant manual, Start Smart Football
T-shirt, and a red or blue flag belt.
Start Smart Soccer
Ages: 3-5 with a parent
Cost: $40
Place: All 3 Divisions
When: Spring Season
This program teaches 3-5 year old children motor skill tasks that
gradually build confidence, while children have FUN at the same
time. Parks & Recreation staff will teach parents and children a
variety of soccer skills including dribbling, throw-ins, trapping
and kicking. The parents will then work with their child to develop
these skills. Koosh products are used to ensure a safe
non-threatening environment for the children. This is a great time
for parents to work one-on-one with their child and spend quality
time together. All participants will receive a kit that includes a
participant manual, Start Smart Soccer T-shirt, Teslon soccer ball,
Kwik Goal (size 3) soccer ball, shin guards, and 4 soccer cones.
Tee Ball
Ages: 4-6
Cost: $30
Place: All 3 Divisions
When: Spring Season
Participants will learn the basic skills used in baseball and
softball such as throwing, catching, batting, and properly running
the bases. All coaches are all volunteers and will be participating
in a coaching certification and clinic. Practices and games
tentatively begin in April.
