Jonathan Wark, County Librarian jwark@earlibrary.org |
| The Dare County Library
includes three facilities located in Manteo, Kill Devil
Hills, and Hatteras Village. The system is a member of the
East Albemarle Regional Library System, so Dare County
Library borrowers also have access to materials owned by the
Corolla, Currituck and Pasquotank-Camden libraries via the
automated system. A weekly courier exchange between
libraries allows for the timely delivery of requested items. There are evening and Saturday hours in all three locations; call for specific hours of service. Registration: Anyone who shows a valid identification may borrow materials free of charge. Parents must sign for children under 14 years of age. Library cards are honored at all libraries of the East Albemarle Regional Library (Pasquotank-Camden, Dare, and Currituck counties). Card catalog can be checked from home through the website http://www.earlibrary.org Services include: Copiers, Internet access, word processor, typewriters, fax machines, reference/research, and interlibrary loan. Weekly story times for preschool children at each location. Summer Reading Program for children of all ages. Meeting rooms available at the Manteo and KDH locations for nonprofit groups. Home visits can be arranged by calling the Manteo location. Local policies within those set by the Regional Library Board are set by an 8 member Dare County Library Board appointed by the County Commissioners, one of whom is a member of that board. The Regional Library Board is the governing board and is comprised of three members from each of the three local County library boards.
