Program Coordinator
Alex recently graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a B.S. degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies,
is a certified group fitness instructor through
the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, and is CPR and
First Aid certified. Along with practicum and volunteer hours
completed in order to receive her degree, Alex also completed
her internship with Dare County Parks & Recreation Department
where she planned, coordinated, implemented, and
supervised programs and activities for youth ranging from 3-18.
Alex is very excited to be back in Dare County and give back to
the community she grew up in. She is looking forward to sharing
her enthusiasm and passion for recreation and leisure with
all of those around her.

Allison
Mazzenga 475-9272
Fitness Coordinator
Allison has a B.S. degree in Health Fitness from
East Carolina University and a Master’s Degree in Exercise
Physiology from the University of Virginia. She has also earned
her health fitness specialist certification from the American
College of Sports Medicine and is a certified group fitness
instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of
America and is CPR and First Aid Certified. She has experience
in personal training, weight training instruction, cardiac
rehabilitation, as well as various programming for the older
adult population. Allison’s exercise philosophy centers on
living healthy by making physical activity and exercise a part
of your everyday life in a balanced and positive way.
Sandy
Scarborough, CPRP

Sandy has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education,
is a Certified Parks & Recreation Specialist, and CPR and
First Aid certified. Sandy has worked with the Dare County
Parks & Recreation and Older Adult Services Departments for the
past 12 years in a multi-generational facility creating,
planning, implementing, and supervising programs and activities
for people of all ages as well as supervising staff members.
She loves working with people and is very excited about the
opening of the new Center and the opportunities to interact with
the community on a daily basis. We will offer something for
everyone so please come out and join us for a great time. If
